About the Episode
With election season upon us in such a big way (have you voted?! Do you have a plan to vote??) I want to spend a moment highlighting someone who has made a decision to take their community service to the next level and run for office. On episode 41 of YOU Better! I interviewed Chipalo Street, a candidate for Washington State Representative for Legislative District 37. The big thing about this episode for me is that you process that Chipalo made a choice that many of us can make – to “get in the game” in a new way and attempt to participate in lawmaking and resource decisions that represent what the people in our communities really need.
Chipalo has worn many hats throughout his life – in addition to being a groundbreaker and mentor in the tech world, he’s had a “nights and weekends” career refereeing international, professional, and collegiate soccer matches. In this episode, Chipalo speaks with me about how his dreams of playing in the NBA morphed into something else – a life filled with solving dynamic problems in a variety of spaces.
